Melanie is been CarePros’ Program Manager, first joining the team in June 2021. With over 18 years of experience, Melanie brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our programs and child and youth facilities. She enjoys seeing our team members work together to make a difference in a life of our children and youth. As Field Supervisor, Melanie is responsible for managing and overseeing complex and challenging needs of CarePros' clients. She provides ongoing assessment of children and youth, and assists with developing their care programs. Melanie also oversees the Care Professional by supporting the team during client crises, auditing practices and procedures, and training team members on de-escalation and therapeutic strategies. Prior to her time at CarePros, Melanie worked at Little Warriors, an organization focused on awareness, prevention, and treatment of child sexual abuse. She also did contract work with youth in the Northwest Territories, overseeing a treatment centre and emergency foster care facility. Melanie started her career by working with people with disabilities during her student practicum. Melanie has experience dealing with people with Autism during her time at the Excel Society. In 2008, Melanie worked at Inner City Youth Housing as an overnight worker and then as a program supervisor. Melanie then worked as a Director at Elk Island Child and Youth Ranch for six years. Melanie graduated with a Community Support Worker diploma in 2005. She continued to pursue her education and received her Health Care Aid certificate in 2008, and is a certified Child and Youth Care Counsellor through the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta in 2010. During her spare time, Melanie enjoys spending her time with friends and families, being outdoors, hiking, and exploring new trails. An avid Star Wars fan, she has two cats named Skywalker and Yoda.
