Haley is the Recreation Therapist at CarePros. Since joining the team in 2019, Haley has created and implemented a therapeutic recreation program for CarePros clients that promotes skill development and recreation participation, promoting independence and improving their overall quality of life. With the support of her recreation therapy assistant Shawna, Haley is dedicated to providing her clients with fun, creative, and engaging leisure opportunities that show how special, unique, and important they are. Before joining CarePros, Haley worked on the interdisciplinary rehabilitation services team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a Recreation Therapy Assistant and a Recreation Therapist. Haley was responsible for leading activity programs including art, music sing-a-longs, exercise, memory and cognition, baking, and horticulture to name a few, as well as making modifications to accommodate numerous acute and chronic diagnoses/disabilities such as dementia, orthopedic injuries, and stroke. Through this experience, Haley learned the importance of empathy, compassion, and the level of commitment required to provide exceptional client care to those experiencing life-changing barriers and disabilities that impact their quality of life. Haley graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism in 2017 and maintained professional membership status with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). She continues to pursue professional development courses that support her practice as a Recreation Therapist to become licensed as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. In her spare time, Haley enjoys immersing herself in movie marathons, designing her personal spaces with as many plants as she can fit, playing competitive sports with friends, and spending quality time with family and her dogs, Pooka and Duke.
